Fluctuations in Temperature with the Changing Seasons
The cycle of seasons is caused by the Earth's tilt toward the sun. The planet rotates around an (invisible) axis. At different times during the year, the northern or southern axis is closer to the sun. During these times, the hemisphere tipped toward the star experiences summer, while the hemisphere tilted away from the sun experiences winter. At other times on earths journey, the axis is tilted not towards the sun but along the planet's path, parallel to the star. During these times of the hemispheres experience spring and autumn and with season change comes temperature changes.
During different seasons organisms will respond differently, both structurally and behaviorally to the change. A crucial element of season change is the temperature change the comes with it. Organisms have adaptations that help them to cope with the changing temperatures.
During the seasons there can be a significant temperature difference. Temperatures within the UK changes quite a lot depending on the time of the year.
