Metabolic Rate
A number of key ecological traits depend on temperature
Using resources (energy and materials) to make new cells, to repair old ones, and to get rid of wastes requires the assemblage of biochemical pathways that we call metabolism. Metabolism is a universal feature of life that links organisms with their environment, and with each other.

There are many reactions involved in metabolism. One of the major variables involved in metabolism is temperature, governed by the Boltzmann factor. Temperature can effect metabolism in different ways. Therefore the effect of temperature can be of serious concern to an organisms survival and must be maintained between a certain range.
Because temperature does effect metabolism, it also effects a number of key ecological traits.
